2016 Adopt-a-Family Program Participation

January 1, 2017

Starting in 2011, Lafayette Group began an annual tradition of participating in the Salvation Army’s Adopt-a-Family Program. The company’s involvement in the program, designed to help families in need, started with the adoption of one family, who were overwhelmed by the generosity and support extended by staff and management. It is also a great team-building opportunity for the Lafayette Group staff, which includes gift wrapping training and subsequent friendly gift wrapping competition.

In the years that followed, Lafayette Group has been paired with two families and the Salvation Army coordinator forwards us a specific list of items for each member of the family. This year, like years past, we well exceeded expectations; not only were all the necessities on the lists obtained (e.g. coats, shoes, hats, diapers) but Lafayette Group staff went above and beyond to provide several gifts that would normally be out of reach for the families, including bicycles, iPods, and, this year in particular, a laptop for a 12-year-old girl. As the Lafayette Group family continues to grow, we look forward to expanding our involvement with the program’s families.
