Department of Justice Awards Intelligence Grant to Chiefs

November 10, 2014

Lafayette Group will provide staff support to the Major Cities Chiefs for a new project announced by the Department of Justice. The purpose of this Federal grant is to strengthen criminal intelligence practices at the state and local level. The Criminal Intelligence Commanders Initiative will be funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), a component of the Department of Justice.

Through this program, the Intelligence Commanders from major cities will partner with the Criminal Intelligence Coordinating Council (CICC) – a group made up of members representing law enforcement and homeland security agencies from all levels of government. BJA seeks to implement policies developed by the CICC by introducing those polices into the operations of local intelligence units across the Nation.

Lafayette Group will support all aspects of this two-year project and will prepare policy reports that demonstrate how CICC policies are put to work in daily police operations.
