Lafayette Group Supports FirstNet in Atlanta

July 1, 2016

On May 19, 2016, FirstNet conducted a pilot of planned Metropolitan Leadership Briefings at public safety headquarters in Atlanta. Lafayette Group assisted FirstNet in preparing formal presentations for public safety stakeholders. Representing Lafayette Group, Chuck DeWitt and former Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey attended the event. Speaking as Chairman of the President’s Commission on 21st Century Policing and the former President of Major Cities Chiefs, Commissioner Ramsey described the background and origins of the planned national network.

Hosted by Atlanta Police Chief George Turner, public safety personnel from the metropolitan area engaged in an interactive discussion with FirstNet on network infrastructure, including how closely FirstNet would work with its commercial partners to build and secure the nation’s first public safety broadband network.

The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) was established by Congress as an independent authority within the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to provide emergency responders with the first nationwide, high-speed broadband network dedicated to public safety. Lafayette Group is proud to provide staff support to FirstNet.
