Lafayette Group Supports FirstNet in Conversation-Driven Fourth SPOC Meeting

December 1, 2016

Lafayette Group Inc. recently supported the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) with its fourth semi-annual Single Point of Contact (SPOC) Meeting on November 16 and 17, 2016, and played a key role in preparing the materials and staff briefings that allowed for an innovative, conversation-focused format and individual consultations with 51 states and territories over the two-day meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.

With a partner award imminent and State Plans expected to reach each U.S. state and territory in the next six months, the SPOC meeting came at a crucial time for FirstNet and the states. The conference focused on preparing the states and territories for receiving and reviewing their State Plans and allowed attendees to ask questions of FirstNet staff, share successes and concerns with FirstNet and other states, and provide additional input about the content of the State Plan and the review process.

Attendees at the meeting, as well as FirstNet staff, were pleased with the meeting’s structure and outcomes and are anticipating another meeting in the early spring to work through the next phase in implementing a nationwide broadband network for public safety.
