Lafayette Group Supports Major Law Enforcement Conference in the Nation’s Capital

January 15, 2015

On January 26-27, 2015 the Major Cities Chiefs Association held its biennial legislative conference in Washington, DC in conjunction with the Major County Sheriffs Association.  Lafayette Group supports the Chiefs with legislative analysis, policy development support, coordination with the Legislative and Executive branches as well as supporting the various meetings and conferences of The Chiefs throughout the year.

At the legislative conference Lafayette Group provided conference management support and legislative policy analysis that allowed the Chiefs and their Sheriff counterparts to discuss pressing legislative issues, policy positions, training, and other critical issues facing local law enforcement. The conference attendees also heard from distinguished speakers included:

  • Vice President of the United States
  • Secretary of Homeland Security
  • Attorney General
  • Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
  • Attendees also heard from key members of Congress, representing the Judiciary, Homeland Security, and Appropriations Committees

The Major Cities Chiefs, which represents the 67 largest law enforcement agencies in the Nation as well as nine agencies in Canada and two in the United Kingdom, work with Members of Congress and the Executive Branch to help them understand the issues facing our Nation’s large cities and to find legislative and policy solutions that help to ensure public safety, the preservation of civil rights and liberties, and addresses the issues in a manner that best serves the public. Lafayette Group also supports other law enforcement stakeholders such as the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security.
