Supporting the 2016 Leadership in Counter-Terrorism Conference

May 1, 2016

Lafayette Group supported the Leadership in Counter-Terrorism Alumni Association’s (LinCT-AA) annual International Counter-Terrorism Conference, which was hosted on April 26 – 29 in New York. Each year Lafayette Group prepares the official proceedings for the conference, now in its fifth year. Conference participants and attendees included senior law enforcement, intelligence, counterterrorism, and military officials from the “Five Eyes” countries – Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

This year’s conference concentrated on The Changing Dynamics and Social Implications of Terrorism. The topics included Five Eyes overview; law enforcement perspective-managing and responding to the threat; overview from Indonesia Middle east and Europe; victims’ needs as part of the strategy; recent case studies; and counter-radicalisation through social media. Keynote addresses were given by John Miller, Deputy Commissioner of the New York Police Department, and His Royal Highness Prince Rashid bin el Hassan of Jordan. The conference also featured panel discussions on Five Eyes Review and Forward Look: The Evolving Threat at Home and Abroad, and Social Media, a Pro-active and Reactive perspective

Each year, the National Consortium for Advanced Policing (NCAP) is a sponsor of the conference and engages Lafayette Group to prepare the proceedings. Lafayette Group previously worked with NCAP on the LAPD’s Policing Convergent Threats (PCT) training program and the National Counter-Terrorism Academy (NCTA). These LAPD programs provided training to State and local law enforcement through in-person and web-based courses.
