Criminal Intelligence Commanders Initiative

Lafayette Group provides staff support to the Major Cities Chiefs Association (MCCA) for the U.S. Department of Justice-funded Criminal Intelligence Commanders Initiative. This program establishes a policy-level link between two groups that shape and strengthen criminal intelligence practices at the state and local levels – the MCCA’s Criminal Intelligence Commanders Group and the Criminal Intelligence Coordinating Council (CICC).

Through this program, the Intelligence Commanders from major cities are partnering with the CICC – a group made up of members representing law enforcement and homeland security agencies from all levels of government. The program, formally known as the Criminal Intelligence Commanders Initiative, is funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), a component of the U.S. Department of Justice. BJA seeks to implement policies developed by the CICC by introducing those polices into the operations of local intelligence units across the Nation.

Lafayette Group supports all aspects of this two-year project and, among its other responsibilities, prepares reports that demonstrate how CICC policies are put to work in daily police operations.
