Lafayette Group has provided monitoring, translation and interpretation services to the New Orleans Field Division (NOFD) of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in support of DEA’s 14 offices district and resident offices and posts of duty in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas.   Lafayette Group continues to support the Gulf Coast HIDTA, also located in New Orleans


For DEA alone, Lafayette Group has supported more than 800 DEA investigations, which in turn led to the arrest and successful prosecution of thousands of drug traffickers and the dismantling of major drug trafficking organizations.  Lafayette personnel, with a cumulative total of over 1,000 years of linguist experience, worked on a daily basis with DEA investigators and prosecutors supporting intercept investigations and in the process have gained a first hand and in-depth knowledge of the drug traffickers and drug trafficking patterns throughout the New Orleans Division.  Lafayette personnel developed a close and trusted working relationship with the DEA staff and management and are considered as an integral part of DEA’s NOFD team.  In addition, based on our unblemished record of quality service to DEA for the over a decade, Lafayette has earned the confidence of the entire Gulf Coast law enforcement and judicial community. 


Lafayette has provided continuous Translation Services and Interpretation Services to the Gulf Coast High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) since its inception in 1998 at their Title III Wire Room and oral intercept facility in Metairie, Louisiana.  The HIDTA Program facilitates cooperation among local, State and Federal drug control agencies and provides participating agencies the equipment, technology, and resources to support their intercept investigations, to include translation and interpretation services. The Gulf Coast HIDTA Task Force supports Title III investigations from: DEA, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, US Customs and Border Protection, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and other law enforcement agencies.  Lafayette linguists provide electronic monitoring, translation and interpretation services to support Gulf Coast HIDTA Task Force intercept investigations in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas. 

During the past 14 years Lafayette Group has a record of a 100% success rate in providing the Gulf Coast HIDTA program management and real-time monitoring, translation, interpretation, and transcription of the court-authorized wiretap investigations of its participating agencies.  Lafayette linguists are capable of simultaneously supporting as many as 20 investigations involving multiple foreign language requirements.  Lafayette personnel confer continuously with the HIDTA case agents and managers and prosecutors to discuss, analyze, and interpret intercepted communications in order to enhance DEA investigations.   Due to their recognized Title III expertise and experience working on drug investigations, Lafayette staff member are often subpoenaed to provide testimony at criminal proceedings.
