Emergency Communications Planning - City of Sacramento, CA

The City of Sacramento sought to improve interoperable communications by developing a strategic and regional governance plan that encompassed agencies within the Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) and the Sacramento Regional Radio Communications System (SRRCS) consortium.  Using the core functions outlined in the SAFECOM Continuum, Lafayette Group developed governance policies and procedures, as well as a charter between UASI and SRRCS, which clearly delineated duties, roles, and oversight responsibilities of management and staff.  The plan ensured that the policy foundation and practices provide the operational and philosophical basis for employing and sustaining the momentum towards achieving fully compliant Project-25 regional interoperable communications.  Lafayette Group subject matter experts also developed recommendations for committee structure using the main charter as a template and provided training to agency management and on the new policies, procedures, and best practices.
