National Counter-Terrorism Academy

In 2010, Lafayette Group, in partnership with the Los Angeles Police Department, worked to create the National Counter-Terrorism Academy, a grant-funded initiative designed to provide counter-terrorism training to State and local law enforcement.  Thirty hours of training was developed for mid-level law enforcement officers and their public safety partners that taught counter-terrorism and intelligence-led policing strategies.  Lafayette Group provided a web-based learning management system for the students to access course materials.  In addition, police personnel were trained on topics such as terrorist operations and motivations, terrorist communication techniques, financing terrorism, underlying sociopolitical conditions that can lead to terrorism, techniques to better understand their information environment, methods for intelligence analysis, and techniques for assessing the performance of policing strategies designed to defeat terrorist threats.
